Nileena M S Wins ACJ Award

NWMI member Nileena M S won the ACJ Award for Investigative Journalism, 2018, for her story ‘Coalgate 2.0: The Adani Group reaps benefits worth thousands of crores of rupees as the coal scam continues under the Modi government’ published as a cover story in Caravan magazine in March 2018. The jury unanimously arrived at its selection of ‘Coalgate 2.0’ for its “detailed, exhaustive and persuasive investigation and its clear exposition”.

The jury citation says: “The piece meets the criteria of what comprises a solid work of investigative journalism, combining extensive research uncovering new evidence to reveal a truth, hitherto unknown to most, and of essential public interest.”

The award, conferred on May 3, World Press Freedom Day, comprises a trophy, a citation and Rs 2 lakh cash prize.

Neha Dixit, also an NWMI member, received a special mention for her story: ‘The Chronicle of Crime Fiction That is Adityanath’s Encounter Raj’ authored by Neha Dixit and published by The Wire.
