Following the uproar over what is referred to as the “Delhi gang-rape”, women’s safety has been much discussed in the public sphere. Watch a bunch of articulate young women from Delhi’s Lady Shri Ram College for Women denounce political parties for their lack of concern for women. CNN-IBN deputy editor Sagarika Ghose draws attention to the dismal representation of women in political parties: Congress has just 53 women candidates out of 417; AAP has 57 women candidates out of 385 and BJP comes out the worst, with only 35 out of 409. The young women also talk about the iconic women leaders and how they are cast in the family mode.
