2004 General elections began with the NDA government

'. It asked the public for a renewed mandate
on its positive economic / development record.
It also fought this election on a personality
plank: Prime Minister, A.B. Vajpayee against
Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Congress president. These
became the focus of the 2004 election campaign
for both the Government and the main Opposition
parties.

world's media, hungry for news from the beleaguered
Security Council on the proposed war on Iraq,
paid little attention to the fact that a document
meant to provide a boost to the participation
and access of women to the media, as well as
information and communications technologies
