Community Enterprise Forum International
(CEFI) invites papers on selected themes of development
interest in South Asia (including Afghanistan,
Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, India, Maldives, Pakistan
and Sri Lanka) for award of fellowships.
Senior fellowships
Four fellowships of Rs.120000 (2700 USD) each
will be awarded to successful entries
Papers are being invited on the following themes:

Junior fellowships
Eight fellowships of Rs. 60000 (1350 USD) each
will be awarded to successful entries.
Papers are being invited on the following themes:

the impact on South Asian economies |

2.

Small scale agriculture
future in South Asia |

3.
|
Rural development
challenges for South Asia |
Please note:
- All papers in the above-mentioned themes should
be an original piece, not published earlier
in any form whatsoever.
- Country specific case studies as part of the
paper will be given due preference.
- No paper should exceed 5000 words and should
have a clear list of references at the end of
the paper.
- The paper should have an abstract to start
with, not exceeding 300 words.
- Every paper should be accompanied with a CV
of the author and two references. Any paper
that fails to meet the above mentioned criteria
will be automatically rejected.
The list of successful fellows will be published
on the CEFI website in the first week of June
2006. All successful fellows will also be individually
informed of the decision by our panel of experts.
Deadline: Last date for submission of
papers: 15 May 2006.
The fellows would be provided with an opportunity
to research, write and publish reports on issues
of development interest across South Asia with
extensive travel to South Asian countries.
The fellowships will be for a 6-month period.
Travel and other expenses during travel will be
borne by CEFI.
Conditions, skills and competencies:
- At least 4-5 years (senior fellowship) and
1-3 years (junior fellowship) experience of
writing in mainstream English newspapers, websites
and/or other publications.
- Fellowships are open only for residents of
South Asian countries as mentioned above.
- Upper age limit for applicants 35 years
(senior fellowships) and 30 years (junior fellowships)
as on 30 April 2006.
- Only one paper per applicant can be accepted.
- Analysis, writing and copy editing skills.
- Good understanding of development issues /
political context / trade and economics of the
South Asian region.
- Ready to travel at short notice to remote
areas across all the South Asian countries at
there own risk
- Journalists currently reporting on politics
or economics of the South Asian region will
be preferred. Researchers with a background
in international relations would also get due
preference.
