and emulate.
- Feature writers
- Copy editors
- Sub-editors
- Layout editors
The Brunei Times was launched on 1 July
as the nation's first, quality, English language
broadsheet. The newspaper is positioned as an
outward-looking paper, connecting Bruneians to
regional and world affairs, and providing daily
insights into Brunei, for an international audience.
It is thoughtfully edited with a logical flow
of local, regional and international news and
features. Its editorials are bold, pointed and
challenging for the insights they offer into the
very core of Brunei society and its challenges
ahead.
Given its mandate to help Brunei society engage
productively with globalisation opportunities,
the knowledge economy and diversification beyond
oil and gas, the paper has a dynamic role to play.
It is an opinion leader and newspaper of reference.
It represents Brunei's future.
The work environment is friendly and supportive.
The paper uses a sophisticated ATEX editorial
and advertising system, housed in a modern office
block in the city. A new GOSS press has been purchased
and will be operational by end-October 2006. Plans
are in place for the daily publication of English,
Malay and Chinese daily newspapers.
Salaries range from B$3K-6K per month, depending
on skills and experience. The Brunei dollar is
on par with the Singapore dollar. The company
provides accommodation and local transport. There
is no personal income tax in Brunei.
