Udayan Memorial Journalism Awards 2005

The Trust invites entries for its journalism awards 2005, open to all Hindi print media reporters and photographers of all print publications

Udayan Sharma Foundation Trust invites entries for UDAYAN Memorial Journalism Awards 2005, open to all Hindi print media reporters as well as photographers of all print publications. To be eligible, content must be original, should have been created by an Indian or foreign permanent resident and should have been published in domestic media for the first time between 1 January 2005 and 31 December 2005.

The photo journalism award recognises the news photographs that capture the passion, drama and colour of the particular story/s or issues. Entries may be either a single photograph or a series on the same subject, provided all pictures were published. The objective is not to find the single best photograph but to reward journalistic vision, consistent quality and a body of work that reflects his or her professionalism and journalistic abilities. Entries of photo are required in print 10 x 12 size / jpeg image must be 300 DPI (on CD). Entries are to be sent to G-12, Sector-27, NOIDA latest by Sunday 30 April 2006. An independent jury comprising representatives in the respective fields will judge the Awards.

Both the awards (Udayan Memorial Journalism Award and Udayan Memorial Photojournalism Award) have been instituted in the year 2003 by Udayan Sharma Foundation Trust and will be presented at a function on his 57th birth anniversary on 11 July 2005 at FICCI Commission Room, Tansen Marg, New Delhi.

Former editor of Ravivar, Hindi Observer, news head for Sahara TV, and coordinating editor Amar Ujala, the late Udayan Sharma blazed a new trail in Hindi journalism with his investigative and in-depth reporting and for his fearless, sharp style. He expired on 23 April 2001. His friends and admirers have constituted the Udayan Sharma Foundation Trust.
