Chennai Hosts the Thirteenth National Meet of the NWMI

TM Krishna at the inaugural sessionThe 13th national meet of the NWMI is at Chennai from 4 to 6 January, 2018. With the central theme as “Gender and the Media – Challenges and Opportunities”, the conference aims to bridge the gap in gender discourse and focus on the challenges faced by media practitioners.

The thrust areas of the conference include news room concerns and best practices, representation in the media, countering gender discrimination and stereotypes, feminist strategies and alternatives in mainstream media, equity in the newsroom, web technologies and safeguarding against online harassment, besides internal discussions among network members.

The meet at Anna University, Guindy, brings working journalists, media practitioners, research scholars, students and academicians together to discuss pertinent issues.
