Indian journo and Palestinian broadcast mediaperson among Peace Award winners
Peace X Peace a decade old global not-for-profit organization that promotes women’s voices for peacebuilding in 120 countries commemorated the International Day of Peace and its anniversary this year by announcing the 2012 Women, Power, and Peace Awards. "The six awards honor extraordinary individuals and organizations on the frontlines of peace and women’s achievements, contributions and self-empowerment worldwide", says a relevant post on its website. Among the awardees are:
Palestinian radio personality and documentary producer Rula Salameh whose weekly television program highlights Palestinians with special needs, patients requiring support for immediate medical treatment, and marginalized families. She gets the Patricia Smith Melton Award
India’s Aditi Bhaduri an independent journalist whose stories regularly portray women building peace in conflict ridden regions, champioing healing for conflict survivors and resisting injustice. This Peace Media Award winner has reported for Haaretz (Israel), Arab News (Saudi Arabia), Gulf News (UAE), Newsline (Pakistan), and Women’s eNews (USA), as well as The Deccan and other Indian media outlets.
