Chennai programme gets an award from Prime Point Foundation

Prime Point Foundation has selected a weekly feature programme (Tamil) titled 'Other side of the light' for its contents and presentation. This particular feature was started by Doordarshan in their Pothigai channel during March 2001 and is running its 183rd episode without a break.

This programme every week features 'real time' persons who are in the lowest strata of society, like beggars, coblers, criminals who have become good citizens, etc. This programme does not involve any celebrities, films stars, music, VIPs, etc. The characters interviewed in this programme are totally new and not known to anybody. The purpose of this programme is to inform the public about the other side of the human life, sufferings of the neglected people and to motivate the public to understand and help the society.

The programme without glamour, make up is being shot in simple and
ordinary locations and telcast on every Sunday mornings between 9.30 a.m
and 10 a.m. Many newspapers have appreciated the efforts by the
Doordarshan.

This is a standing example of public support for the quality and contents of the visual programmes. Prime Point Foundation has selected this programme for an award. Anantha Narayanan (producer) and V K T Balan (interviewer) will be receiving the awards shortly in a function to be organised at Chennai.
