Fourth National Meet of Network of Women in Media, India

The Bengal Network of women journalists is hosting the next Network of Women in Media,India (NWMI) meet in Kolkata from 3 February to 5 February 2006. The meeting is open to both members and non-members of the Network.

On the first day, a public meeting with the theme 'The Media, War and Peace: Will the media in South Asia Give Peace a Chance?' will be addressed by prominent women journalists from South Asia.

It is one of the most exciting times of the year for the city since the Book Fair, the largest in Asia, is held during this time; it is that time of the year when lots of interesting and who’s-who people visit Kolkata because of the Book Fair and various cultural events. Great ideas for stories for our visiting journalist friends (the weather is also friendly!).

The participants will have to pay for their own travel expenses and we request you to mark the dates in February 2006 and buy your tickets ahead so that you can avail of cheap fares!

The Bengal Network is providing free accommodation for a very limited number of participants (already full up, sorry!) and food for the visiting journalists.

Watch this space for information about the agenda and issues for discussion at the meet.
